FAQ

Questions, answered

What’s actually in it?

Three real ingredients: 100% grass-fed-and-finished beef tallow, organic jojoba oil (not olive oil), and Manuka honey. The Lavender Vanilla and Frankincense jars add a natural botanical oil for scent. No water, no fillers, no synthetic fragrance.

Is it dairy-free and gluten-free? Any allergens?

Tallow is rendered beef fat, not a dairy product, so there’s no milk or lactose in it, and none of the ingredients contain gluten. It does contain beef tallow and honey, so it isn’t vegan. There’s no synthetic fragrance. As with any skincare, patch test first if you have specific sensitivities.

How do I use it, and how much?

Start with a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingertips until it turns silky, and press it into clean, slightly damp skin. A little goes a long way — if skin looks shiny, you used too much. Use it morning, night, or both.

Will it feel greasy?

Not when you use a small amount. It’s whipped light and absorbs cleanly — organic jojoba oil mirrors the oil your skin already makes, so it sinks in rather than sitting on top. If you ever look a little dewy, give it a few minutes to settle.

Why does the texture change — sometimes soft, sometimes firm?

Because it’s a real fat with no synthetic stabilizers. It softens in a warm room and firms up when it’s cool. That’s completely normal and doesn’t affect how it works — warm a scoop between your fingertips and it returns to its whipped texture.

Do the scents come from synthetic fragrance?

No. The scented jars are scented with natural botanical oils only — no synthetic fragrance. The Unscented jar has none at all.

What’s the difference between the scents?

Same three-ingredient base in each. Unscented is the pick for the most reactive skin and fragrance-free households. Lavender Vanilla is a soft, calming scent for winding down in the evening. Frankincense is a warm, grounding scent for a slower, more deliberate ritual.

How long does one jar last?

Used as directed — a pea-sized amount once a day — a 1.5 oz jar typically lasts a few months. Because it’s concentrated and water-free, a little does the work of a lot.

How does shipping work?

Orders process within 1–2 business days and ship from our U.S. fulfillment network. We currently ship within the United States, with free shipping on orders over $50. You’ll get a tracking email once your order is on its way.

What if it’s not right for me?

Every jar is backed by a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not happy, email care@artoftallow.com and we’ll make it right with a replacement, store credit, or refund.

The Trio — all three whipped tallow cream blends: Lavender Vanilla, Unscented, and Frankincense
The Trio — All Three, Best Value Sale price$69.85 Regular price$83.85

One jar. Seven things it replaces.

Most people buy one jar to simplify, then notice how much of the cabinet it put out of work:

  • Face moisturizer — daily hydration without the heaviness
  • Body lotion — for elbows, shins, and anywhere that goes dry
  • Lip balm — a dab keeps lips soft through winter
  • Hand & cuticle cream — absorbs clean, no greasy residue
  • Night balm — a richer layer while you sleep
  • Dry-patch & rough-skin treatment — for the spots that react to everything
  • Hair-ends & frizz tamer — the tiniest amount smooths flyaways

Tally up what it replaces and one small jar stops looking like a lot.

How to use

Skin-compatible, lightweight nourishment

Built on ingredients that layer on rich, comforting hydration while still letting your skin breathe — never heavy, never greasy.

Organic jojoba oil, not olive oil

A lightweight oil that mirrors skin’s own sebum and absorbs clean — a smarter alternative to the heavier oils many tallow creams rely on.

100% grass-fed & grass-finished tallow

It closely mirrors skin’s own fats, helping support soft, hydrated, well-cared-for skin without heaviness or greasy residue.

Whipped to a cloud-soft texture

A silky balm that melts in and absorbs beautifully, leaving skin velvety and supple rather than greasy.

Only real ingredients

Grass-fed-and-finished tallow, organic jojoba oil, and Manuka honey. No water, no fillers. Scented jars add a botanical oil only.

Made in the USA in small batches

Produced in small batches for consistent texture, freshness, and quality in every jar.

What's actually in it

Three ingredients. Each with a job.

100% Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished Tallow

It behaves a lot like the oil your skin already makes, so it sinks in and nourishes without sitting heavy on top. Grass-finished, not only grass-fed, which most brands skip.

Organic Jojoba Oil (not olive oil)

This is the part that matters. A lot of tallow creams stretch the formula with olive oil, which sits heavier on skin. Jojoba is closer to skin’s own oil, sits lighter, and gets along with sensitive or breakout-prone skin.

Manuka Honey

A small amount to calm and soften skin that tends to react, without the synthetic fragrance that usually tags along.

Why a small jar lasts so long

Most moisturizers are mostly water. This one has none, so a pea-sized amount goes further than you'd expect. Used daily on the face, a 1.5 oz jar tends to last two to three months.

That puts it under 40¢ a day for something a pharmacist created for reactive skin. The jars that look bigger usually look that way because they're mostly water.

A pharmacist made this because nothing on the shelf worked on her own skin.

Reading ingredient labels all day turned a clinical pharmacist into a cynical one. The “gentle” creams left her skin red and tight. The “natural” ones turned out to be mostly water and seed oil under a nicer label. Eventually she stopped shopping and started creating, and landed on three ingredients her own skin actually tolerates.

Stripped-down luxury for discerning skin.

A heritage-inspired, small-batch skincare brand built on uncompromising simplicity, premium
ingredients, and the revival of ancestral nourishment.

The Art of Tallow bridges the old world and the new, pairing grass-fed, grass-finished tallow
with modern ingredient purity and premium aesthetics.

In a world of overcomplicated skincare, we return to what the skin actually needs:
simple, honest, elemental nourishment — free from excess, filler, and confusion.
